This is to prevent many single seats from remaining in the auditorium. If these are the last available seats, it can be allowed. This restriction is lifted earlier for non-sold-out performances.

Would you like to learn more about the performance? Then come to a free introduction. An introducer will give a mini-lecture on, for example, the content, the creation process, or the history of a work, a script, or a program.

On the website, it is indicated whether there is an introduction for the performance, and you can immediately reserve it.

For some performances we sell SMART SECURE TICKETS (secured e-tickets)

For a number of performances, in cooperation with our ticketing system Ticketmatic, we sell secured e-tickets to prevent resale. This means that your tickets are personal and cannot be transferred. Your admission documents can only be found in the Ticketmatic app on your smartphone. You can download this app from the AppStore or the Playstore.
On the performance page on our website it is indicated which performances use Smart Secure Tickets.

How does it work?

1. Purchase your tickets via the ticket link you received by email
2. You receive an email confirmation with instructions on how to install the app
3. Download the Ticketmatic app and log in with the email address you used to purchase your tickets
4. In the Ticketmatic app you will find the e-tickets within 48 hours of purchase
5. The scannable access codes on these e-tickets will become visible from 2 hours before the start of the performance. The QR code of this ticket changes continuously. A printed copy therefore does not provide access to the performance.

No smartphone?

Do you not have a smartphone yourself and neither does anyone in your group? From 1 hour before the start of the performance, you, the ticket buyer, can collect the tickets at the box office upon presentation of your ID.

Assistance dogs are welcome in the Stadsschouwburg. There are also hostesses/hosts present at all our performances to assist visitors with visual impairments.

The Stadsschouwburg is easily accessible for visitors using a wheelchair. Disabled toilets are available on the ground floor. There are three disabled parking spaces at the Stadsschouwburg.

Mobility scooters and rollators cannot be brought into the auditorium. These can be parked at locations designated by staff.

Contact the Public Service department on 023 - 512 12 12 to reserve wheelchair spaces or to indicate that you have mobility difficulties. If you're attending a performance together, there are options to sit next to each other. 

Hearing-impaired individuals can visit the cloakroom at the  Stadsschouwburg for a sound amplifier. If you are using a sign language interpreter, please contact the box office at [email protected] when booking your ticket(s) so we can reserve a ticket for this interpreter.

At children's performances in the  Stadsschouwburg, seat boosters are available for the very youngest.

It specifies from what age children can attend this performance. Consideration has been given to the development and the comprehension and concentration abilities of the child. Therefore, we kindly request that you adhere to the age limit. 

Yes, this one is on the ground floor. The use of the cloakroom is included in the entrance fee (unless otherwise stated).

At all our performances in the  Stadsschouwburg , there is a host or hostess available for any questions or comments.

To disturb performers and the audience as little as possible, you will only be assigned a seat in exceptional cases after the performance has started. This depends on the performance. Unfortunately, refunds for tickets are not possible if you are late. 

The  Stadsschouwburg Haarlem follows a strict protocol regarding the safety of our visitors. This means among other things that our staff are trained in emergencies. The buildings are equipped with all important emergency facilities. We are also in close contact with and act according to the instructions of the police and fire department.

The drink during the break or after the event is included in the entrance fee (unless stated otherwise). The drink will be ready in one of our foyers. When the drinks are finished or if your favorite drink is not among them, you can always choose a drink at the bar.

For each performance, technicians from the theater and the company are involved. Our technicians assist them in setting up the performance. During the performance, the technicians from the company operate the lights and sound. They determine the volume themselves during the performance. Our technicians regularly measure the sound level to ensure that the permissible limit is not exceeded. 

Turn off your mobile phone or set it to airplane mode before the start of the performance. This will prevent disruptions for the technicians and your fellow attendees.

During the break, before the start and after the end of a performance or concert, the bars are open in the foyers. You are warmly welcome!

In some places, the view of the stage or the seating comfort is less. Therefore, we generally use 4 or 5 tiers. The tier arrangement may vary per performance, depending on the show and the stage design. At the start of sales, the stage design is not always known to us. The so-called mise-en-scène of the actors (and also the set) on the stage is fixed and cannot usually be changed. For children's sightlines, seat raisers are available.

We want the performance to start on time. Therefore, we cannot guarantee access to the auditorium or your seat after the start. Sometimes the company does not mind and we still allow you to sit in a spot where neither the audience nor the performers are disturbed. If you are late, we will wait for a suitable moment to enter the auditorium, so it disturbs the cast and audience as little as possible. When the performance does not have an intermission, this may mean that you cannot enter the auditorium.
