Sterke Verhalen

Sterke Verhalen was founded by Benno Hoogveld and Merel Ooms. Together they have been creating solo performances about social issues under the banner of Solo Stories for 10 years, usually based on books by Dutch authors, such as Ma (by Eric Corton), Nu ik je zie (by Soy Kroon) and 't Hooge Nest (by Fockeline Ouwerkerk).

It all started years ago when Benno and Merel were both making youth theater productions. They bring that experience and their life as parents into developing new youth theater productions. For every production, Benno and Merel work together with a dedicated team of creators, such as Julie Boellaars, Kiki Jaski and Patrick Martens.

In 2025, Sterke Verhalen premiered De Brief voor de Koning at Stadsschouwburg Haarlem. "With this production of De Brief voor de Koning, Sterke Verhalen has found exactly the right tone to breathe new life into this story that is more than sixty years old." (Theaterparadijs)
