Rules for Attending a Performance
Are you visiting a performance with your class? Then we have some rules to follow. We ask you to go through these rules with the students before the performance.
For students
- Think of the actors: The actors are performing live on stage and need to concentrate on their performance. Save conversations with classmates or comments about the performance for after the show, and stay in your seat during the performance.
- Instructions from Stadsschouwburg Haarlem staff must always be followed. Staff are authorized to deny entry or end your visit early.
- Coats and bags must be checked in at the cloakroom.
- Food and drinks are not permitted in the theater.
- Mobile phones must be turned off before the performance.
- Restroom visits only before the performance or during intermission.
- Smoking is not permitted anywhere in the building.
For teachers
- Preparation. We expect that the theater visit is prepared in class and that the rules are discussed with the group. The theater's education coordinator or the theater company can assist with this. For more information about educational programs for performances, you can contact us at [email protected].
- Supervisors. We expect one supervisor for every 15 students and that they intervene if the rules are not followed in our theater. Supervisors should sit among the students so they can intervene if necessary.
- Latecomers cannot always be admitted to the performance. It also often creates a lot of disruption when students go to the restroom during the performance. Make sure the group arrives at least a quarter hour before the start.
