"Brilliant and convincing, with beautiful accents, resonant details and excellent tempi"
Experience the music of Joseph Haydn as you rarely hear it. Following the success of 2025, the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century performs another Haydn opera: Il mondo della luna. His operatic works are (undeservedly) less well-known than his symphonies or string quartets, but are a true musical discovery that is rarely heard.
Musical direction is in the hands of Benjamin Perry Wenzelberg, artistic partner of O18c, who has previously conducted operas by Haydn and Mozart with great enthusiasm at the orchestra. The cast consists of talented young singers from the Dutch National Opera Academy, in a production by Anja Kühnhold. The orchestra excels in the music of Haydn and brings this sparkling comedy to life with audible musical joy, 250 years after its premiere at Esterházy Palace in present-day Hungary.
