What if America changes and we have to change with it?
The news from the US is barely keeping up. In Trump's America, chaos seems to be the only constant. But however unpredictable the most powerful man on earth may be, one thing is certain: the world is changing irreversibly and the consequences for Europe are significant. In the theater college 'Trump's America: chaos and danger', Laila Frank, Anna van Zoest and Bob Deen analyze how America profoundly influences the world order.
From Ukraine and NATO to the role of major tech companies, geopolitical tensions around Greenland and the war with Iran: the impact is significant. How solid is the trans-Atlantic relationship still? And how dependent do we still want to be on the US?
America itself is also in turmoil. Polarization is increasing, institutions are under pressure and the midterms are approaching. How do Americans see their own future and that of their country? Will those midterm elections be a stress test for democracy? And is what happens there a harbinger of what awaits Europe? An evening about power, uncertainty and the question: what if America changes and we have to change with it?
