ISH Dance Collective
Brings the street to the theater
ISH is a dance collective of free thinkers, unconventional in formats and restrictions. Since 2000, they have brought hip-hop dance and urban sports to the theater and connected these disciplines with traditional art forms such as ballet, theater and classical music. Inspired by street styles, ISH wants everyone to feel at home in the theater, including those who have never been there before. United by the realization that boundaries don't exist, ISH creates dance from elements you wouldn't immediately classify as dance.
In 2024, ISH received the award for "Most Impressive Dance Production of 2024" for their production Rhythm & Flow. In 2025, founder, choreographer and dance theater director Marco Gerris received the Johannes Vermeer Prize for his groundbreaking work, in which he brings together urban sports, dance, theater and other disciplines in a uniquely personal way.
'ISH is a way of life. By all means, stay true to yourself and seek inspiration around you.' — Marco Gerris, founder & artistic director ISH
