Freek de Jonge
Not a retrospective full of certainties, but a quest to discover what really happened.
With "Wisten Wij Veel" Freek de Jonge brings the fourth part of his memoirs to life on stage. In this special theater production, he looks back on the years 1969–1980: a period in which everything began for him and took a decisive turn.
It is the time of meeting Hella, the rise and dissolution of Neerlands Hoop, and the thrilling beginning of a solo career with De Komiek. Years of experimentation, engagement and doubt — but also of success and stage presence. He still connects in his own unique way personal memories with the spirit of the times then and now. What seemed self-evident turns out in retrospect to be a complicated story. What did we know is therefore not a retrospective full of certainties, but a search for what really happened.
This production is more than a supplement to the book: it is its own narrative, in which text and performance reinforce each other. Light-footed where it can be, sharp where it must be, and always personal. A unique opportunity to experience a decisive period from De Jonge's life up close once more — on stage, where it all began.

Freek de Jonge
Freek de Jonge began his career with Bram Vermeulen in the duo Neerlands Hoop in Bange Dagen with fast-paced, sharp and socially critical performances. After the duo split up in 1979, Freek continued as a solo artist. Throughout his entire career, one idea remains central: laughter as a driving force.
