"Martijn Koning's escapism is a workout for your funny bone."
Het Parool about earlier performances.

Stage performer Martijn Koning consistently demonstrates a strong fascination with the animal kingdom. In his previous production 'A Monkey That Doesn't Eat Bananas,' an ant, a cricket, and a monkey played major roles, and the Volkskrant noted: "How delightful Martijn Koning is when he takes us on an expressive flight from reality toward the animal kingdom."

In 'Overprikkeld' he tries to escape reality with a hedgehog. The little creature puts up its spines when danger threatens. It rolls itself into a ball, a mini crash cushion, and thus protects everything soft on the inside. What do you do when you become overstimulated? By the world, politics, by perfectly ordinary everyday events? Then come and spend a lovely evening sitting in the hall with Martijn!
