Absurdist songs, convoluted mental ramblings and witty confessions.

Where Piet van Eeghen examined his own mind in a funny and original way in his 'strong debut cabaret programme' according to the NRC, he wraps his head around everything that happens between him and his 'fellow man' in his second programme De Lieve Vrede.

Longing for others, but wanting to hide them behind the wallpaper once they arrive. Making a fist with trembling knees and meanwhile being a teacher for ten years. Shuffling uncomfortably at physical contact, but bursting into tears at the first hug. A barrel full of contradictions that Piet must discuss and sing about. With absurdist songs, convoluted musings and witty confessions, he takes you along on his attempts to find the balance between showing his teeth and keeping the peace.

"A strong first cabaret performance from an interesting cabaret artist and stage personality. (…) Van Eeghen demonstrates well that cabaret is more than talking and telling jokes. He's funny too, by the way. (…) Van Eeghen has written a 'realistic life song' (…) that is worthy of the Annie M.G. Schmidt Prize."

NRC over zijn eerste programma ‘De Verlichting Nabij’ ★★★★

"In his first show, Piet van Eeghen manages to entertain the audience until the very end with clever and comic songs."

de Volkskrant over zijn eerste programma ‘De Verlichting Nabij’ ★★★

"Van Eeghen repeatedly demonstrates his own, dry-comedic, original perspective. He is engaging, funny and endearing."
