Richard Groenendijk
"All the stops are truly pulled out and then laughter rolls through the hall, just as we knew it from Toon Hermans."
After playing the role of Edna Turnblad in the successful musical Hairspray for an entire season, Richard Groenendijk is back with a brand new solo show; 'Gelukkig heb je mij nog'. His previous show 'Voor iedereen beter' was warmly received by both press and public, and he received the prestigious 'Poelifinario' for this production. The award for the best cabaret program of that season, which he accepted for the second time in his career.
According to the press, Groenendijk is a jack-of-all-trades. In reviews he is called crude, subtle, charming, sensitive, serious and above all genuinely hilarious. A man who delivers a bloodbath of cheeky insults, but who also always makes room for tenderness and valuable musings. A ruthless comic entertainer at the peak of his powers. As one reviewer wrote about his previous show: "Truly all brakes come off and then laughter ripples through the auditorium, just as we knew it from Toon Hermans." In 'Gelukkig heb je mij nog' Groenendijk once again takes the audience by the hand through his life. A colourful life in which there's always some fire to put out.
