Nederlands Dans Theater (NDT)
Dance Talents, Choreographic Innovation and Experimentation
Nederlands Dans Theater has been one of the world's most leading contemporary dance companies since 1959. NDT aims to offer unique experiences and perspectives through dance that encourage dialogue, reflection and the embracing of diversity.
The first company NDT 1 consists of 28 phenomenal (international) dancers with stunning technique, theatricality and unparalleled expression. NDT 2, founded in 1978 under the direction of Jiří Kylián, began as a talent development programme for young dancers, but has since evolved into a fully-fledged company with its own repertoire.
Each season the company creates an average of 10 new works in which dance talent, choreographic innovation, experimentation and a high level of productivity are central. With successful productions such as Folka, Figures in Extinction, The edge of things and Lucid Variations, they perform worldwide for a large international audience.
