In 'Blast a universe' Nederlands Dans Theater celebrates its past and present full of radical choices and poetic power. In the performance they revive two iconic works from the NDT repertoire and proudly present a world premiere by choreographer Noé Soulier.
Jiří Kyliáns visually striking 'Sleepless' (2004) – with complex duets and refined musicality – emerged from his reflection on the many sleepless nights choreographers experience during the creative process of new work. He was also inspired by paintings by Argentine artist Lucio Fontana, who opened doors to the unknown in art through his works.
Following his NDT debut 'About Now' in 2023, choreographer Noé Soulier returns with a new work. With a combination of experimental techno and natural sounds by composer Sa Pa, this promises to be a stimulating experience.
Associate choreographer Marco Goecke created The Big Crying (2021) shortly after his father's death. Set to music by Tori Amos, it is one of his most personal and vulnerable works. The dancers move like broken machines in Goecke's characteristic complex and emotional movement language.
