Two beloved works and a new piece, in a tribute to the playfulness of the dancers.
Nederlands Dans Theater presents an ode to the playfulness and humanity of their dancers. 'A poem for the world' brings together two beloved works; by choreographer Edward Clug and by associate choreographer Crystal Pite, both accompanied live by Het Balletorkest. Additionally, you will see a new work by Johan Inger.
Edward Clug created a playful world with 'mutual comfort' in 2015. "In just 10 minutes it shows the essence of my entire dance universe," says Clug. While a musical quartet performs a composition by Milko Lazar live, the dancers explore their connection with each other and how it provides comfort and support. Moments of unexpected beauty, subtle humor and detailed movement alternate and create a work to be enjoyed at leisure.
In 2019, associate choreographer Crystal Pite was one of the creators of the full-length work 'Kunstkamer'. Her poetic quartet from that production has now been developed into a full-fledged piece: 'Four Solitudes'. Schubert's piano sonata gives voice to Pite's love for dancers and for dance and the magnificent music that sets them in motion.
Johan Inger has been creating work for NDT for more than thirty years and returns with a new choreography. His work is strongly connected to musicality, the relationship between people and emotional presence. Rather than looking back, this new work, created in collaboration with the NDT 2 dancers, is about listening, exchanging and discovering how movement can embody who we are now.
