De Maaltuin is a travelling restaurant that has been opening at special locations since 2016, such as castles, palaces, museums or botanical gardens.  With De Maaltuin we introduce you in a relaxed way to the stories of these special places. Discover hidden stories and enjoy a delicious dinner with a menu that is always unique and inspired by the location. In the convivial and casual atmosphere of De Maaltuin you'll have a wonderful evening out. Will you join us?

Arrangements are available for both matinee and evening performances.

Matinee Performance
Doors open at 15:30. The performance starts at 16:00 and ends at 17:15. Following this, the dinner arrangement from Maaltuin begins, lasting until 20:00.

Evening Performance
The dinner arrangement starts at 17:00. The performance takes place from 20:15 to 21:30.

Do you have an allergy or dietary preference? No problem. The menu always remains a surprise, but we can usually accommodate your needs. Because we cook on-site with a set menu, we cannot always fulfill every dietary requirement. However, we can certainly arrange the following exceptions:

Vegetarian;
No meat;
No pork;
No fish;
Gluten-free;
Lactose-free;
Nut allergy;
Pregnant.

You cannot inform us of this directly when placing your order. But don't worry, you will receive an email from the Stadsschouwburg two weeks in advance in which you can indicate your preferences. Keep an eye on your inbox!

After you have booked, you will receive an email from the Stadsschouwburg approximately 10 days in advance with practical information. This information can also be found in this location. 

Accessibility
This edition of the Maaltuin is fully wheelchair accessible. There are paved paths and an accessible toilet is available.

Do we dine at our own tables or long tables?
You sit with your group at long tables with other guests.

How do I get a ticket?
For this edition, ticket(s) can only be reserved via the Stadsschouwburg website. You reserve and pay in advance and you will receive a confirmation email. Additionally, your ticket(s) are available via 'my surroundings'. For the performance, you will need these ticket(s) to gain access to the forecourt. For dinner, the name under which you made the reservation is sufficient.
 
What is the menu?
The menu is a secret. If you have any dietary requirements or allergies, you can let us know via the email you will receive from the Stadsschouwburg two weeks in advance. If you have any questions or wish to make changes after informing us, please email [email protected]

Can I eat vegetarian or vegan?
For those who do not eat meat and fish, there is a vegetarian menu. Unfortunately, vegan is not an option.

What if the weather is bad?
The dinner is backstage at the Stadsschouwburg, so you can enjoy yourself without worry even in bad weather. The performance is outside on the forecourt; we recommend bringing a blanket with you for any cold and a rain jacket if rain is forecast.

Does it always go ahead?
The performance will generally always go ahead, even in bad weather. In the very exceptional case of code red, the performance may be cancelled. However, the dinner backstage will still go ahead as normal.
