Inner conflict. Visibility. The energy of the battle.
The biggest battle doesn't always take place on the floor, but within. Sessions makes that struggle visible.
In this physical and rhythmic performance, choreographer Donna Chittick translates the energy of hip hop battles into a story about doubt, identity, and the constant need to prove yourself. Five performers share the stage, each bringing their own perspective and experience.
From hip hop emerges a movement language in which bravado and vulnerability exist side by side. Text and dance reinforce each other: the MC gives voice to what is happening within, while the dance makes that tension visible.
Sessions is an ode to self-taught creators, MBO-trained professionals, and everyone who has taken a different path and doesn't always feel naturally recognized for it.
Not a battle to win, but a search for your place and the space to occupy it.
At Sessions, music is not only heard but also felt. For deaf and hard of hearing visitors, vibration belts are available: portable devices that you wear around your waist and that convert music into vibrations. This makes the rhythm and energy of the performance physically tangible.
